Looking For A Digital Slim Camera?
Things to think about before choosing your own digital slim camera…
These portable little cameras are becoming more and more popular. You don’t have to buy a big camera to get lots of features anymore! Good things come in small packages is more true than ever, and these little cameras have lots of things to recommend them. They look good, function well, and are highly portable.
Portability is a key feature with these cameras. It’s nice to be able to take a picture at any time by just whipping your slim camera out of your purse or pocket. People love to put pictures on Facebook or MySpace or another one of the popular networking sites, so it’s great to have a camera handy to capture that interesting photo. Sure, your cell phone might take pictures, but they aren’t as near as good a quality as you can get from one of the slim digital cameras.
If you decide to buy one of these - and they are so inexpensive it’s hard to resist - well, here are some other things to think about when choosing the best digital slim camera for you:
LCD Screen: Check out the size of the LCD screen. These days, it’s quite often almost as big as the camera itself, especially on these smaller models. Not all screens of the same size are created equal, however. The display resolution varies, and how well the screen lights up. Check to see if any mention is made of how well you can see the screen in bright sunlight. This was a real problem in the early days of digital cameras, but is getting better all the time.
Menu Controls: Are the controls easily accessible? If it’s hard to reach buttons when you need them, you might miss those pictures you wanted. On smaller cameras most buttons are within easy reach, but some lay-outs can be rather awkward. Check to see the camera you choose has a well made lay-out. If you aren’t trying the camera yourself in person, sometimes reviews will talk about how easy (or not) it is to use a camera.
Other Features: Most cameras have several settings. Scene modes, aperture settings, manual control, movie mode, sports burst, macro… it varies from camera to camera. If you have any specific settings you want, be sure to note if the camera you are considering has those. For the most part, however, the beauty of the digital slim camera is to just whip the thing out of your pocket and literally point and shoot.
However, the most needed features are probably some optical zoom capability, movie mode, and a nice big LCD screen to see what you’re going to take a picture of. Most cameras have these, but it never hurts to check before buying to be sure!
These little cameras are inexpensive, portable, and fun to use. Why not get your own digital slim camera today? You’ll wonder what you ever did without one!
